EXACTLY why facebook is killing myspace.

Firstly, maybe the best thing about myspace was lurking. Lurking was KEY to myspace's good times.

Although the option was already there (I think) people weren't really into making their profiles private. Making your profile private became popular a few years ago.

This fucked up the the BEST thing about myspace: LURKING.

Yes lurking is creepy and whatever but everyone that used myspace loved that shit.

Making your profile private just reflects our paranoid and hyper-individualistic society. Maybe the whole terrorist thing, abundance of internet stalkers and continuous fear in the media perpetuated this. Loose theory though.

Enter facebook with it's new focus of networking. Interest in facebook traps you into being social. Everything that sorta involves you like photos, comments, photos/statuses/comments you've commented on you get alerted about. Even of profiles a private if you are somehow involved/tagged/whatever you can......wait for it.......rhymes with kirk (softdrinks)............LURK.

LURK.

Facebooks statuses even mean you can LURK people thoughts. How fucked up is that? Awesome though true? This is why twitter (follow me twitter.com/patdac) is winning too.

We live in a technological age and private vs public has become a concern on our online lives.

Facebook has found away around this.

Myspace fucked up.
